All life is precious.

On May 16th, “Dylan’s Law” was passed by SC Governor Henry McMaster. Sponsored by the Family Caucus, “Dylan’s Law” requires DHEC to test all SC newborns for Krabbe disease and two other genetic disorders. This bill is named in honor of Dylan Emery, an 11-month-old baby from Greenwood, SC who died of Krabbe disease last year. Treatment for Krabbe disease must happen within a month after birth to be effective. The new testing will give parents early notice of their child’s diagnosis so they can seek this life-extending treatment.
