If a heartbeat is detected, a baby is protected.

On April 25th, 70 SC representatives voted and passed the SC Fetal Heartbeat Protection from Abortion Act. House bill 3020, known as the “Heartbeat bill,” legally protects every unborn baby with a heartbeat, which is typically detectable at 6-8 weeks after conception.  The members of the Family Caucus were proud to be this bill’s first cosponsors and loudest advocates. This bill now resides in the Senate Medical Affairs Committee. Governor McMaster has agreed to sign it if the Senate passes it. The full bill can be read here.
